Meditation
Meditation Simplified and Redefined
Normally, when someone says “Meditate”- our mind goes zooooom. The monkeys start climbing the train of thoughts and go haywire wherever the train goes! In the beginning, when all the spiritual leaders led a campaign to practice meditation, my monkey mind rebelled! I decided not to even think about it! Imagine controlling my thoughts, or chanting mantras that didn’t even make sense, or practicing stillness or whatever they ask you to do. I was overwhelmed!
But I decided to give it a try.
My first idea was to create my own mediation space, which I call my Zen cave! I wanted it to be a place where I can leave my worries behind and just watch some baby or dog videos! This made me happy. Therefore, I designed this room such that I could also get energy from bamboo shoots, goji screens, dried Bodhi leaves, Himalayan salt lamps, or water fountains surrounding a focus object!
Now don’t ask me why I chose Buddha, and get into religious discussion. I just love Buddha, so chose HIM to be my focus! I am agnostic when it comes to religion, so any object would have sufficed!
I am just practicing to be human, that’s all.
But Buddha’s face gives me a peaceful feeling somehow. I could have put even a baby’s picture there. So I started focusing on his serene face.
Slowly, I began to enjoy going to my Zen room! Every time I entered that room, I focused on increasing my vibration by practicing a few minutes of silence with happiness thoughts! My thoughts did wander, but I breathed only positive energy created by that space. As time went on, I realized my Zen cave had become my battery charging room.
I realized it is okay to be sad for ourselves and for others. But do not stay sad for too long. It won’t heal you or them, and it may take longer to recover. Within 30 seconds, distract yourself with happy thoughts and pray for them. I’m sure it will work! Otherwise, it is pointless.
Whenever I’m feeling low, I go there to recharge and spend some time alone with peaceful thoughts. I pray for those suffering while listening to music or watching happy videos! Then I bounce back fully charged! And I’m ready to share my happiness with others.
That’s my idea of meditation.
Eventually, some of us will learn the advanced mediation techniques that learned gurus teach! Maybe, to practice stillness looking at your third eye and what not! But to me, this is good enough, and we can all do it! I am lucky I got my personal space – not everyone is privileged, but I saw one lady who created her own Zen cave even under the stairs and covered it with a curtain! So I thought that was neat! If she can do it, so can you!
Sharing my zen cave here!! I spend at least an hour everyday in this room, and I love it! It’s the highest energy space in my house. I am blessed indeed
